Major Road Improvement Works Begin

A €282 million road improvement project gets underway today (Thursday) withworks on the N7 and N11 being officially started by transport minister, Leo Varadker.

On the N7 a bottleneck at Newlands Cross will be removed, while the N11 between Arklow and Rathnew will be upgraded to four-lanes.

The work on the N7 will add a new flyover, removing the last traffice light between Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Northern Ireland.

The N11 will also get a new service station on the Gorey bypass.

The project is expected to be completed in two years.

Minor Works Scheme Failure Raising Parents Back-To-School Costs - FF
The government's failure to commit to a Minor Works Scheme for schools is resulting in higher back-to-school costs for parents, Fianna Fáil has claimed. According to the party's Education Spokesperson Charlie McConalogue, schools are being forced to increase the voluntary contributions asked of parents in order to just keep the school running.

€294m Set Aside For Roads Investment
A €249m investment package for regional and local roads in Ireland has been unveiled by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD. The investment will allow some 2,000km of the roads network to be maintained and strengthened in 2015.
