Murder Investigation Underway After Body Found In Field

A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man’s body in Tallaght, Dublin on Saturday night.

RTÉ have reported that the body of a 37-year-old man was found in a field near Killanarden Hill around 21:00.

A post mortem carried out on Sunday afternoon confirmed that the victim had been shot in the head.

The area where the body was found was sealed off for a forensic examination.

According to RTÉ, the victim was under investigation in connection with a firearms seizure in Tallaght almost three weeks ago, where three rifles, a handgun and two sawn-off shotguns along with a large amount of ammunition was found during a search of a house in the Kilclare area.

The man was not previously known to gardaí who believe he was storing the guns for gangland criminals.

The man had been reported missing for a number of weeks before his body was discovered.
