ISPCC Figures Show 800,000 Calls Made To Childline In 2012

Almost 800,000 calls were made to Childline in 2012, with one in three going unanswered, RTÉ have reported.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children’s annual statistics for last year show that 14% of calls answered related to the issues of child abuse and welfare.

The figures also show that over 10,000 call related to bullying, and that 80% of the total contact made to Childline were out-of-hours.

The figures are being highlighted to mark the seventh annual Child Helpline Day.

Childline Night Service Under Threat Of Closure

CSO Figures Show Crime Figures Down Almost Across The Board
Newly published figures from the Central Statistics Agency have revealed the crime figures in all but two groupings have fallen from April to June, when compared to the same period last year. There was a year-on-year fall of 7.9% for sexual offences and a 10.2% fall in attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassments and related offences.
