Judge Rules In Favour Of Student To Have Video Removed From Internet

A judge has ruled in favour of a DCU student who brought a mandatory injunction case against various internet companies over a video, which falsely accused him of evading a taxi fare.

23-year-old Eoin McKeogh brought the action against YouTube, Google, Facebook and other websites over a video that wrongly identified him as leaving a taxi without paying the fare.

Mr Justice Michael Peart ordered that arrangements must be made to permanently remove the video within the month.

The ruling calls for experts representing Mr McKeogh to meet experts from the internet companies to find a way to completely remove the material, on a worldwide basis.

The experts should be nominated within 14 days, and their meeting should be within two weeks, Justice Peart ordered.
