Schmidt Appointed As Ireland Head Coach

The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) today officially announced the appointment of Joe Schmidt as Ireland head coach.

The current head coach of Leinster is expected to take on his role at the end of this season.

Schmidt is believed to have been offered a three-year contract that runs until 2016.

The IRFU is to hold a press conference this afternoon where Chief Executive Philip Browne will talk about his appointment.
