eBay Opens New Dundalk Centre

eBay, the ecommerce company, have opened its new official European operations centre in Dundalk.

The online retailers new Co Louth facility will provide support for customers of eBay and its payment service subsidiary, PayPal, across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

It has been ten years since eBay first opened a customer service centre in Ireland and alongside its subsidiary PayPal, the two businesses currently employ nearly 2,500 people in Ireland.

In February, eBay said it would add 450 more.

Since then the companies have filled nearly a third of the vacancies, with the remainder to be in place by 2015.

US technology Microsoft has announced the creation of 200 new jobs at its campus in Dublin. Half of the new recruits will join the innovative engineering team at the Leopardstown site, with the remainder taking roles in sales, data centre operations and graduate and intern positions.

Minister Mitchell O'Connor Officially Opens New Mergon Innovation Centre
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor, has officially opened Mergon Group's new Mi Centre at its headquarters in Castlepollard, Westmeath. The Mi (Mergon Innovation) Centre is the amalgamation of Mergon's expertise in advanced manufacturing, robotics, automation and failsafe technologies, all now under one roof.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has officially opened Google's new €150 million data centre in West Dublin, bring the company's total invest in Ireland to more than €750m. Mr Kenny was joined by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD.
