74-Year-Old Father Jailed For Abuse Of Daughter
A 74-year-old man has been jailed for the sexual abuse of his daughter, which began when she was 3-years-old.
The man admitted he had abused his daughter “once or twice a week” and pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 22 counts of indecent assault on the now 44-year-old victim between 1972 and 1982.
He also pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the indecent assault of two of her friends when they were aged 11 and 14 years old in 1975 and 1982.
The victim reported her father, who cannot be named, to garda in 2011.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring imposed sentences totalling four-and-a-half years. She suspended two-and-a-half years after considering his age and the absence of any other convictions.
