10 Closure Orders Served On Food Businesses In February

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today reported that ten Closure Orders were served on food businesses during the month of February.

The Enforcement Orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive.

Five Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

• Amerta Chinese Restaurant, No. 1 Clifton Avenue, Monkstown, Co. Dublin

• German Cakes and Snacks (restaurant), 15 Percival Street, Kanturk, Cork

• Imperial Chinese Restaurant, 3-4 The Spa, Mallow, Cork

• Asian European Foodstore, 39 Lavitt’s Quay, Cork

• At the Office Catering, 3rd Floor PCRS, Exit 5, M50 North Road, Finglas, Dublin 11

Five Closure Orders were served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

• Jimmy's Take Away, Market Square, Mountrath, Laois

• McGovern's Victuallers, High Street, Drumshambo, Leitrim

• Grocery food business carried out by Maria Lidia Silva da Cruz and Joao Antonio da Cruz, 10 The Steeples, Duleek, Meath

• Boody’s Chipper, Three Bullet Gate, New Ross, Wexford

• Gojinka (restaurant), Manor Mall Shopping Centre, Swords, Co. Dublin

Three Safety Closures Of Food Outlets In April
Officials from the food standards authority have closed three food outlets in the last month. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) revealed on Wednesday it had served three closure orders and two prohibition orders on food businesses in April for breaches of food safety legislation.

Rise In Food Safety Enforcement Orders
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has reported a total of 143 Enforcement Orders served for breaches in food safety legislation in 2013 compared with 109 in 2012, an increase of 31% - making last year the highest to date for the number of Enforcement Orders issued.

12% Increase In Food Safety Enforcement Orders
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today stated that there were a total of 82 Enforcement Orders served for breaches in food safety legislation in 2011 compared with 73 in 2010, an increase totalling 12%.
