School Principal Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography

A school principal has pleaded guilty to knowingly having more than 100 images of child pornography.

58-year-old Ciaran O’Flanagan, or Killegland Rise, Ashbourne was charged with having the images on a desktop computer at an unknown location on or about September 29, 2008, and on a laptop at his home on January 6, 2009.

A teacher since 1974, O’Flanagan had been principal of St Kevin’s Boys National School, Finglas, Dublin, at the time of the offence but had since resigned from the position.

Judge Michael O’Shea imposed two concurrent two-year sentences but suspended each on condition O’Flanagan entered a bond to be of good behaviour for two years.
