2014 Giro D'Italia Could Begin In Ireland

2014s Giro D’Italia cycling event could begin in Ireland, as tourism officials and government representatives await an announcement from organisers to be made tomorrow.

It is understood that plans to hold stages on both sides of the Border are to be outlined during launch events tomorrow at Dublin’s civic offices and Titanic Belfast visitor’s centre.

It would be the first time the race has ever come to Ireland, and would see both cycling’s Grand Tours visiting both Ireland and the UK, with the Tour De France starting in Yorkshire next year.

The Republic of Ireland welcomed the Tour de France in 1998 when the first three days of the race took place in the country.
