Facebook Create 100 More Jobs In Dublin

100 additional jobs are to be created at the Dublin headquarters of social networking giant, Facebook, bringing the company’s total workforce in Ireland to 500.

The jobs are already being advertised on the company’s website and cover a range of functions.

"ICT is a key sector targeted in the Government's Action Plan for Jobs,” Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said as he announced the jobs on Monday morning.

"We are determined to build on the major successes in this sector in recent years, in particular by supporting the further development of the thriving cluster around Dublin's docklands.

"Today's announcement of a significant expansion by one of the biggest companies on the internet, with the creation of 100 high-end jobs, is a major endorsement of the tech environment in Dublin and further confirmation of our city's status as the internet capital of Europe."

A shed manufacturing company is to create 100 new jobs in Tuam, Co Galway. Steeltech Sheds is to relocate its business from Headford Road in Galway to the former Coca-Cola factory in Tuam and will recruit new staff between now and 2017. A US internet security firm has announced it is to set up its European Operations Hub in Ballsbridge, creating up tp 100 new jobs. Total Defense Internet Security develops anti-virus and anti-crimeware software for businesses and consumers. The new hub will create jobs for sales, operations and customer support.

Accent Solutions has announced it is to create 100 new jobs over the next two years. The Dublin-based workforce has said it will increase its workforce to 133 by the end of this month, and have a total of 230 employees by the end of 2017.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has announced 100 new jobs are to be created in Dublin, by Irish pharmaceutical company APC Ltd. The Taoiseach announced the jobs as he opened the company's new headquarters and research centre in Cherrywood, Dublin today (Monday).
