Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder Following Fire Death

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a woman in a house fire in Co Cork Sunday morning.

Firefighters fund the 36-year-old mother of three following a fire at her home in Passage West.

A man in his 30s was later arrested on Sunday evening in connection with the death. He was taken to Togher Garda station for questioning.

It is understood that the victim’s three children where staying with their father when the fire broke out.

Senior gardaí met last night to consider the results of a post-mortem carried out by State Pathologist Prof Marie Cassidy on the body of the woman.

The results of a toxicology report are still to be delivered, however it is thought the woman may have been stabbed before the fire began.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.
