Eight Enforcement Orders Served On Food Firms In January

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today stated that seven Closure Orders and one Prohibition Order were served on food businesses during the month of January for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010. The Enforcement Orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive.

Five Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

• Cafe Irie (restaurant), 11 Fownes Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2

• The Kiosk Food Stall, St Andrews Market, Pearse Street, Dublin 2

• The House Pizza (take away), 1 Shelbourne Terrace, Thomondgate, Limerick

• Camden Kitchen (restaurant), 3A Camden Market, Grantham Street, Dublin 8

• Andris Stals (wholesale meat & meat products), Premises occupied by Andris Stals, Kilcappa, Clonygowan, Tullamore, Offaly

Two Closure Orders were served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

• Ming Court (restaurant/canteen), Unit 453 Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15

• Ali's Takeaway, 5 Newbridge Road, Ennis, Clare

One Prohibition Order was served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

• Andris Stals (wholesale meat & meat products), Premises occupied by Andris Stals, Kilcappa, Clonygowan, Tullamore, Offaly

Rise In Food Safety Enforcement Orders
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has reported a total of 143 Enforcement Orders served for breaches in food safety legislation in 2013 compared with 109 in 2012, an increase of 31% - making last year the highest to date for the number of Enforcement Orders issued.

The orders were served for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has reported that ten Closure Orders and four Prohibition Orders were served on food businesses during the month of February for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.
