AGSI Pull Out Of Croke Park Talks

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) is pulling out of talks on the extension of the Croke Park Agreement.

AGSI had previously said that it would resist any attempts to cut pay, warning that its members would consider taking action if necessary.

The decision to leave the talks was taken at a special meeting of the national executive in Dublin today.

Mr Redmond said he did not think there would ever be a chance of the AGSI re-entering the process.

The association said that premium payments were recognition of the frontline nature of the 24/7 role played by gardaí and that they would not be involved in a process that reduces that pay.
