Ireland Comes 12th Out Of 80 Best Countries To Be Born In 2013

Ireland ranked 12th in a list of 80 best countries to be born this year.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has attempted to measure which country will provide the best opportunities for a healthy, safe and prosperous life in the years ahead.

Switzerland topped the poll, Australia came second and Norway third.

Even though Ireland did not appear in the top ten, it was well ahead of the United States, Germany and Belgium.

Ireland Ranked In Top Five Countries To Visit
Ireland has ranked in the top five countries to visit by the Lonely Planet Travel Guide. Labour TD Michael McCarthy, has welcomed news and said the top billing gives a glowing review of Ireland. Mr McCarthy said: "The Wild Atlantic Way is already attracting visitors to Ireland as they seek to explore the longest defined coastal drive in the world.

The Global Competitiveness Report is compiled by the World Economic Forum after a survey of businesses in each country, and covers a range of factors affecting each country's business climate.
