Govt Promises €370m For Construction Of Luas Link-Up Line

The Government has promised €370m for the construction of the Luas link-up line in Dublin city centre.

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar said approval from the Cabinet was secured and work is to begin in May 2013.

The scheme is expected to create almost 800 jobs during construction and another 60 permanent jobs.

The line is expected to be completed in 2017.

Man Killed In Road Crash In Carlow
Gardaí in Carlow have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road crash involving a motorcycle and a construction vehicle. A man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a construction vehicle on the R724 at Ballymoon, near Muine Bheag, at around 20:50 on Sunday night. The 27-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
