Toyota To Recall Over 34,000 More Cars

Toyota will recall more vehicles in Ireland due to potential problems with steering and a water pump.

In a statement on Wednesday morning Toyota Ireland said it was conducting a voluntary recall on 32,650 Avensis and 1,859 Prius vehicles manufactured between August 2002 and September 2008.

The potential steering problem involves knocking noise from the steering column and a possible reduction in steering response.

The company says however the vehicles will remain safe to drive.

The water pump problem pertains to the possible failure of the pump in Prius vehicles.

In October, Toyota announced it was recalling up to 36,000 Toyota cars in Ireland as part of a recall of seven million vehicles around the world over a faulty power-window switch.

In the UK, 75,000 Avensis and Corolla models from 2001 to 2009 and Prius models from 2003 to 2009 face recall for inspection and possible repair.
