Anthony Ward Died From Asphyxia

Preliminary results of a post mortem examination on the body of eight-year-old Anthony Ward revealed he died from asphyxia.

He was found dead in the bedroom of his home at Harrison Place in Charleville, Cork, yesterday morning.

Gardai do not believe he died of natural causes and are continuing their examination of the house where he was found.

His mother, Diane Ward, 43, remains in hospital.

The HSE has ordered a full investigation to be carried out.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Woman Dies Following Crash In Co Wexford
A woman in her early 70's has died following a collision at Knockmore, Caim, Co Wexford, on Saturday at around 9.45am. The woman was killed when the car she was driving collided with a ditch. The road was closed for a Garda Forensic Collision Examination, however it has been re-opened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Man's Body Found At House In Limerick
An investigation has been launched after a man found at a house in Limerick on Sunday night died in hospital. It is understood that the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was found unconscious at a house on Hyde Road at about 20:00 on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital Limerick.

Investigations Launched Into Workplace Death In Co Cork
Two independent investigations have been launched following the death of a 59-year-old man in a workplace accident. The man died following an incident on a building site in Midleton, Co Cork, at approximately 12:49pm on Monday, 08 August, at St Coleman's Community College.

Agricultural Remembrance Service Held In Co Laois
A remembrance service for victims who lost their lives in agricultural-related accidents has been held in Co Laois. The service, organised by Embrace FARM, took place at the Holy Rosary Church in Abbeyleix at 2pm on 28 June. Embrace FARM was founded last year by Brian Rohan who father died following an accident on the family farm in 2012.
