Man Arrested After Discovered Of Woman's Body

A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body at her home.

The victim has been named as 47-year-old, mother-of-four, Elizabeth Duff. She was found with injuries to her body, lying on the floor of her home at Lacken View, a council estate in Naas, Co Kildare.

While garda have said they are still waiting on further evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, they are treating as suspicious.

A 47-year-old man was arrested in the Naas area yesterday afternoon. He is being held for questioning at a local garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. This allows gardai to detain him without charge for up to 24 hours, excluding rest periods.

The man's period of detention was extended late last night.

A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
