New Drive-Thru Opens In Capital

McDonald's has officially opened its new drive-thru restaurant in Charlestown, north Dublin.

The opening created 70 jobs.

McDonald' Charlestown franchissee Morgan McStay said: "The opening of McDonald's in Charlestown gives another boost to the local area and to the shopping centre in which we are located.

"I expect that strong trading performance to continue and I look forward to building up our customer base in the months and years ahead."

McDonald Rejects Proposals For 'Excessive' Water Use Charge
Sinn Féin Vice President, Mary Lou McDonald, has rejected proposals by the Expert Commission to charge customers for 'excessive' waste usage. Speaking in the Dáil during Leaders' Questions today, 30 November, Teachta McDonald said imposing a levy would "inevitably lead to the introduction of across the board water charges in the future".

Over 400,000 people who voted for Right2Change candidates signals the "death knell" for domestic water charges, according to Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald. Ms McDonald said the fact that so many of the electorate voted for candidates against the levy in the general election brings the issue of water charges "front and centre".

The Dáil has been suspended for the rest of the day after Sinn Fein Deputy Leader, Mary Lou McDonald, refused to leave. A row, between the Ceann Comhairle and Mary Lou McDonald, started after she continued to question Tanaiste Joan Burton over Irish Water.

Speaking on International Women's Day ahead of an event to be held in Dublin tonight celebrating women’s role in the 1913 Lockout, Ms McDonald spoke of the role of women in "progressing workers’ rights over the last 100 years".
