Lyons Gets Six Months For Sexual Assault

Businessman Anthony Lyons has been jailed for six months for sexually assaulting and attacking a woman on the 3rd October 2010.

Lyons, 53, of Griffith Avenue in Dublin pleaded not guilty to the assault of the 27-year-old female.

However, he later claimed he did attack the victim because he was on cholesterol medication. This was rejected by the jury.

Mr Justice Desmond Hogan sentenced him to six years behind bars, but suspended five and a half years of his sentence. He is also a registered sex offender.

The judge also ordered Lyons to pay the victim €75,000.
