Approved Planning Permissions Drop By 63%

In the first quarter of 2012, planning permissions were granted for 1,355 dwelling units, compared with 3,667 units for the same period in 2011, a decrease of 63%, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Planning Permissions were granted for 1,263 houses in the first quarter of 2012 and 3,075 in the first quarter of 2011, a decrease of 58.9%

One-off houses accounted for 64.1% of all new dwelling units granted planning permission in this quarter.

The total number of planning permissions granted for all developments was 3,368. This compares with 4,019 in the first quarter of 2011, a decrease of 16.2%.

Planning Permissions for new buildings for Agriculture increased to 133 this quarter. This compares to 113 permissions in the same quarter of 2011.

30.5% Drop In Planning Applications - CSO
There has been a 30.5% drop in the number of planning permission applications granted for new houses in the first quarter of this year, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Planning permissions were granted for 1,446 houses in the first quarter of 2014 and 1,860 in the first quarter of 2013, a decrease of 22.3%.

96.7% Rise In New Planning Applications
There has been a 96.7% increase in new planning permissions in Ireland, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Fine Gael TD for Meath East, Regina Doherty, said this is another sign the recovery is taking hold. She said: "In the first three months of 2015 planning permissions were granted for 3,155 dwelling units.

Sinn Féin Calls For Immediate Publication Of Irish Water Payment Figures
Irish Water should publish its payment figures for the first quarter of 2016, Sinn Féin has said. Making the call, TD Eoin Ó Broin said the figures for the last quarter of 2015 were published by 14 January and he sees no reason for a delay in publishing the figures for the next quarter.
