Audit Imposed Security Restrictions Lifted At Dublin Airport
The extra security restrictions imposed on Dublin Airport after it failed a European Commission audit have been lifted.
The removal of the extra measures follows an inspection of airport security by EC officials earlier this week.
Transport minister Leo Varadkar told RTÉ’s Today with Pat Kenny that "the EC were in town two days ago, and we've passed the audit this time."
The transport hub failed an audit last month after being handpicked to test new screening regimes for passengers travelling on to further destinations.
Both the minister and the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) refused to explain in detail the lapses identified during the original European audit but Mr Varadkar said he took the concerns raised very seriously.

A recent EU aviation security audit found two deficiencies within Dublin airport. One issue has already been dealt with but today the Dublin Airport Authority said it w ill take two months to bring the second, outstanding issue into line with the required security requirements due to its “technical” nature.
