UNITE Protest Continues At Waterford Council

Almost 140 workers are continuing their protest outside Waterford County Council offices in Dungarvan following the suspension of two UNITE trade union members earlier this week.

The UNITE members were suspended following a dispute over the handling of employment issues in relation to water services, a union spokesman has said.

The union has also said Waterford County Council are refusing to give assurances over future employment in the event of changes to the management of water services in the county.

Essential water services are being maintained but other outdoor services such as bin collections have been affected as a result of the unofficial action.
