€950,000 Drug Siezure

Gardaí have arrested two men and seized drugs valued at almost €1 million during a joint investigation by gardaí and Customs officials yesterday.

They discovered 75kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €900,000 and approximately 10,000 tablets that gardaí suspect of being a controlled substance, during the search of a dwelling in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

The estimated total value of the seizure is €950,000.

Two men aged 49 and 34 were arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda station where they were being held last night.

The seizure was as a result of an intelligence-led investigation by officers from Revenue’s Customs Service based at Dublin Port and the Garda National Drugs Unit, with assistance from Tallaght and Store Street Garda stations.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Man Arrested Over Mullingar Drug Seizure
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a drug seizure in Co Westmeath. Gardai from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit stopped a car near Kinnegad at approximately 7:30pm on Wednesday. Heroin worth an estimated €45,000 was discovered during a search of the vehicle.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Two Held Following Drug Seizure
Two men are being held following the discovery of cannabis and amphetamines worth an estimated €140,000. Some €20,000 worth of cannabis and €120,000 of amphetamines were uncovered when a car was stopped and searched in Waterford. Gardaí say the search was part of an ongoing operation.
