Ms Quinn Ordered To Pay Anglo €3M

The wife of Seán Quinn has been told to repay the former Anglo Irish Bank over €3 million over a loan she signed for with her husband five years ago.

Patricia Quinn said she was a homemaker for 36 years and had no knowledge of business matters.

Ms Quin claimed in her defence that she did not know what she was signing when she signed the loan agreement and did not get the benefit of the money.

However, the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation has described her evidence as incredible and ordered her to repay the loan.

Patricia Quinn was a director of 63 Irish companies, a company secretary of ten and held directorships in 28 UK companies.

Patricia Quinn, wife of now bankrupt developer Sean Quinn was on Thursday described as being under the 'undue influence' of her husband when she signed for the loan in 2006. Mrs Quinn said no-one from the bank spoke to her about the loan and until the proceedings began and argued she did not even know she was a customer of Anglo.

Mr Justice Peter Kelly said Mrs Quinn's position was "startling" and "astonishing", saying she had no will of her own and was a "cat's paw" for her husband, signing every document he put in front of her without a clue what they were about.
