Police Target Drug Trade Across Ireland

Gardaí investigating the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Cork area have seized drugs with an estimated value of up to €590,000 and arrested a male following a planned operation on Monday.

A similar operation took place along the border with the North as well.

Officers from the Anglesea Street Drug Unit stopped a car at Sallybrook, Glanmire yesterday afternoon and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €380,000 was seized and the male driver, who was in his 30s and the sole occupant, was arrested at the scene.

In a follow up operation yesterday afternoon, with the assistance of Gardai from Cobh, a house was searched in the Carrigtwohill area and further controlled drugs consisting of cannabis and cocaine with an estimated street value of up to €210,000 was also seized.

The male arrested is currently detained at Cobh Garda Station under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Meanwhile, as part of an intelligence-led operation, members from the Gardaí National Drugs Unit and Dundalk Gardaí carried out a search of a dwelling at Seatown, Dundalk, Co. Louth on Monday morning.

During the search a substantial cannabis cultivation site was discovered in the dwelling house.

Approximately 800 cannabis plants were seized along with 7kgs of herbal cannabis with a total estimated street value of up to €400,000.

Two males aged 31 and 42 were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at Dundalk Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.

Cannabis Seized During Raid In Wexford
Gardai have seized herbal cannabis following a raid on a house in Wexford. It is estimated to have a street value of €45,000. A number of plants were found during the search of a property in Lee Heights on Thursday. No arrests were made and investigations are continuing.

Garda Seize Cannabis Plants Worth €400,000
Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €400,000 have been seized following a search at a house in in Co Kildare. Garda found the plants inside a residence in Ballyboeen, Kilcock as part of an ongoing investigation. No arrests have yet been made and garda have said the investigation is ongoing.

Eight Arrested In Dublin Drug Operations
A total of eight men have been arrested in a night of multi-million euro drug seizure operations in Dublin last night. In the first of two operations yesterday evening, Gardaí arrested three males, one in his 20’s and two in their 30’s following a search of a business premises at the Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole.

200 Cannabis Plants Found In Co Kerry
Cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of €160,000, were discovered by gardai in Rathmore, Co Kerry, last night. Officers from the Kanturk Drug Unit carried out a planned search of a house near the town, uncovering some 200 plants at various stages of growth. The scene has been sealed and a technical examination is underway.
