Appeal Launched Over Aggravated Burglary In Louth

Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing for the public’s assistance in relation to an aggravated burglary which occurred at a property at Ath Leathan, Racecourse Road, Dundalk, yesterday morning.

The occupants awoke to find that five masked men had entered the house sometime before 8am. Two of these men were armed with what appeared to be handguns.

A couple in their 30's, along with their three children, all under four years of age, a woman in her 40's and two teenagers were in the house at the time.

An amount of cash was taken and the men made their escape on foot.

It is believed they had driven to the house and had parked a distance away, completing their journey on foot.

The man, 36, received non life threatening injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda for treatment.

No arrests have been made to date and investigations are continuing with an incident room set up in Dundalk.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. Potential witnesses may have noticed activity around this house during the night or early in the morning. Other activity around this house for a week prior to the incident may also be relevant.

Three Die In Separate House Fires

Dundalk Shooting Man Dies
The Irish police are keeping an open mind about a motive behind the death of a man in his 40s following a shooting in Dundalk, Co Louth, at the weekend. The victim was visiting a house in Saltown when two men burst into the house just before 7pm on Sunday and shot him at least once.

Two Arrested After Tallaght Shooting
Two men have been arrested in Dublin in connection with a shooting incident in Tallaght in the early hours of Monday morning. Gardai said they made the arrests and seized two firearms following the shooting incident, which took place at Hazel Hill, Tallaght at about 12.55am.
