Captain Kennedy Confirmed For Bundoran

Larne-based folk band Captain Kennedy have announced they have been confirmed for the Sea Sessions Festival in Bundoran, Donegal on Saturday 25th June.

The three day surf and music festival runs from 24-26th June 2011 and features well known international artists Ziggy Marley & Grandmaster Flash, along with excellent Irish acts such as Villagers, Bell X1, Japanese Popstars, Fred, O Emperor and Cashier No.9.

Folk band Captain Kennedy also recently announced they will be appearing at the Forfey Arts and Music Festival in Co. Fermanagh, on August 4 to 5 while the band will be in The Nerve Centre, Derry on July 2 for the the Stripes & Stars Festival.

The Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival, meanwhile, includes a variety of outdoor events, including the a beach soccer tournament, touch rugby, and the Rage Stage – featuring Ireland’s largest mobile half pipe that will host a BMX, skate and blade stunt show.

Sea Sessions also announced that for the first time they will be hosting an ultimate Frisbee beach competition. Ultimate Frisbee, if you haven't heard of it before, is a mixed non-contact team sport involving two teams of five players (seven on grass) playing on a rectangular pitch trying to score points in opposing endzones.

Funding of €1.945m has been approved by Fáilte Ireland for 16 national festivals and events to take place next year.
