President Obama Arrives In Ireland

U.S President Barack Obama has now arrived in Ireland.

Air Force One touched down in Dublin airport earlier this morning with the President, and his wife Michelle, greeted by Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and the US Ambassador to Ireland, Dan Rooney.

Upon arriving in Dublin, Mr Obama said the bond and relationship between Ireland and the United States could not be stronger. He said "we will do everything to help" Ireland in its economic recovery.

He added how inspired he was by the progress of the peace process in Northern Ireland.

The President has already visited his ancestral home of Moneygall, Co Offaly. He also made a private visit to the American Embassy in Ballsbridge.

Later today the President, the First Lady and Taoiseach Enda Kenny will take part in a public celebration at College Green in Dublin.

The President will also address the audience after entertainment from many well known Irish artists.

Mr Obama and the First Lady will then call on President McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin.

The visit continues.
