Murder Probe Follows East Belfast Stabbing

It has been confirmed that a suspicious death in Belfast has now been classed as a murder.

Detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch yesterday launched a murder enquiry following the fatal stabbing of a man in the Clarawood Park area of east Belfast last weekend.

The body of a 31-year-old Richard Hicking was found in a flat around 12.30pm pm on Saturday afternoon, 30 April.

The PSNI said that a man in his 30s is currently helping them with their enquiries at Musgrave Street police Station in connection with the murder.

Serious Crime branch detectives investigating the murder are now appealing for information regarding the victim's movements in the last few days.

Anyone who had contact with Mr Hicking between Thursday morning (28 April) and 12.30pm on Saturday 30 April when he was found deceased is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Police station on 0845 600 8000.

A statement said, that if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, after the shock murder of a Kilkeel resident, Dmytro Grytsunov on Saturday 23rd April, the PSNI have charged a 28-year-old man with affray, and assisting an offender.

Two other men remain in Gardaí custody in Dublin at this stage.

Gardaí Assist PSNI In Belfast Murder Probe
An Garda Síochána is providing assistance to the PSNI as they investigate the murder of Saoirse Smyth who disappeared in Belfast in 2017. A search got underway in Omeath, County Louth today after enquiries led detectives to believe Ms Smyth has been murdered.

Denis Donaldson Murder: Man Arrested
Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his 40s, in connection with the murder of Denis Donaldson. Mr Donaldson, who was a senior Sinn Féin official, was shot at his cottage near Glenties in Co Donegal in April 2006. He was previously exposed as an MI5 agent. The suspect has been detained at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Limerick Man Dies After Assault In Home
A 48-year-old man has died as a result of serious injuries he received in his own home after a serious assault. Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the attack during which, Limerick man Joe O'Donnell, 48, of Hyde Road, suffered serious head wounds in the early hours of Friday morning.

Man Found Guilty Of Clonakilty Murder
