Water Supply Restored In Cork Homes

Water supplies have now been restored to affected areas of Cork city after yesterdays burst water main.

Cork City Council has said that discolouration of the water may continue for some time however it is safe to use and drink.

Around 30 people had to be evacuated from their homes in Cork after a water main burst in the area of the Fever Hospital Steps.

14 houses were affected.

Emergency services responded immediately, with fire crews at the scene within minutes. Water services personnel, the Gardai and the HSE also responded.

Cork City Council has offered emergency alternative accommodation, in the locality, to those families affected.

The Council Water Services staff diverted water to ensure continuous supply in the area. The Council is in the process of assessing the full extent of the damage and repairs are commencing.
