Irish Language School Gets Upgrade

New accommodation for Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche in Castlewellan was officially opened by Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane.

Funding for the accommodation came from the Department of Education. The new accommodation, Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta (InaG), includes classroom space, a resource area, external play area and parking.

The Minister said: “This is an exciting time for the Irish-medium education sector across the north and particularly in the South Down area. Together with the voluntary pre-school provision currently delivered by Naíscoil Uachtar Tíre, it is now possible for children and young people in this area to receive their entire formal education through the medium of Irish. I commend the Principal, staff, governors and parents for their hard work and commitment to providing education in our native language. I wish them every success for the future as they settle into the new premises.”
