Derry Teen Charged In 'Ongoing Investigation'
What the North's police said last November was an "ongoing investigation" has led to a teenager being brought to Derry from London to be charged with murdering a pizza deliveryman almost two years ago.
Thaddeus McAllister, 19, and originally from Cable Street in the Bogside, is also charged with attempting to murder another man and possessing a handgun on the same date.
The defendant, who was arrested yesterday, denies the charges and was released on bail and will appear in court again in March.
The charges are in connection with the death of Emmet Shiels, 22, who was delivering pizzas when he was caught up in a confrontation with masked gunmen and shot twice in the Creggan area in June 2008.
Gary Meenan, 20, from Bishop Street, was previously jailed for eight years for Mr Shiels' manslaughter in November 2010.
The Londonderry man wasn't the one who fired the fatal shots.
However, Meenan was described as a "willing participant" in the events, which led to the fatal shooting of Sean Emmet Shiels and he was jailed for manslaughter at Belfast Crown Court.
A senior PSNI officer said at the time "there's an ongoing police investigation" and paid tribute to the strength and resilience of Mr Shiels' family and has also called on the people of Derry to come forward with information that would bring others involved to justice.
Meenan, 20, from Bishop Street in the Maiden City, was originally charged with murdering Mr Shiels but that was left on the books when, just a few days into his trial last autumn, he pleaded guilty to his manslaughter.
His 20-year-old girlfriend, Nadine Kelly, was handed a one-year jail term, suspended for two years, after she pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice by giving Meenan a false alibi for the time of the killing.

On-Duty Firefighter Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving
A fireman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving while on duty behind the wheel of a fire engine. The man was driving a fire truck on the Callan Road, Kilkenny over the weekend and approached a checkpoint. It is believed he was returning from an emergency incident and failed a breath test. He was issued a fixed charged penalty notice.

Irishman Charged With Murdering Four Soldiers In Hyde Park Bombing
Irishman John Downey has been charged with the murder of four British soldiers in the 1982 Hyde Park IRA bombing at the Old Bailey Court in London. Downey, 63, from Co Donegal, was arrested on Sunday at Gatwick airport. He is accused of being responsible for a car bomb in South Carriage Drive.

Mother From Cork Charged With Murdering Son
A mother from charged with killing her eight-year-old son, Anthony, has been sent forward for trial. Diana Ward, 42, of Harrison Place, is accused of murdering Anthony at their family hone on 3rd September 2012. A post mortem confirmed Anthony died from asphyxiation.
