Tipperary Sports Venue To Create Jobs

Plans for a new €460m sports and leisure complex in north Tipperary have been unveiled.

The development named The Tipperary Venue will create around 1,000 jobs during the three years of construction and 2,000 full-time jobs once complete.

Dublin-based businessman Richard Quirke's proposal's for the 800-acre development, beside the village of Two-Mile Borris, include a 500 room hotel, casino, racecourse featuring a National Hunt Track, Sprint Track and all-weather floodlit track.

A golf course and greyhound track are also planned alongside a 15,000-seat entertainment venue.

Racehorse trainer, Aidan O'Brien, concert promoter Denis Desmond and local Independent TD, Michae Lowry, have all backed the scheme.

Planning Permission Granted For New Cork Concert Arena
A proposed €50m concert venue in Cork has been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanala. The new venue will be at Albert Quay in the city and will be built by developer Owen O'Callaghan. The plans for the new venue show a 100,000sq ft, 5,000-seater indoor arena, expandable to accommodate 7,500 people both seated and standing.

Genzyme Ireland Announces Expansion
Genzyme Corp, one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies, is to invest up to a potential of €20 million, with the support of IDA Ireland, to create additional product and process development facilities at its manufacturing campus in Waterford where more than 380 people currently work.
