Two Arrested After Dublin Drug Haul

A man and woman have been arrested in Dublin after a major drug find by Gardaí.

The arrests came as a result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Blackrock area, during which Gardaí stopped and searched a car at Drummartin Link Road, Stillorgan, County Dublin at approximately 1pm yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí said this morning the search resulted in five kilo's of cannabis grass being recovered in the boot of the car and the 33-year-old male driver being arrested.

Follow up investigations then involved a house being searched on Mount Anville Wood, Stillorgan, later in the day.

A spokesman for Gardaí said: "The search of this house revealed that the entire upstairs was being used as a cannabis factory. In each of the four upstairs bedrooms there was a pot grow system with high density lighting systems, reflective wall coverings, and extensive ventilation and air extraction systems."

Approximately 500 cannabis plants and several more kilos of cannabis grass were discovered and a 33-year-old female was arrested at the scene.

Two follow up searches were subsequently carried out in Clondalkin and Crumlin but there were no seizures or arrests.

The total street value of both seizures is believed to be in the region of €600,000, subject to further analysis.

Both arrested persons are being detained at Blackrock Garda Station under section 2 of the drug trafficking Act.
