Man Arrested After Co Dublin Stabbing

A man has been arrested this morning after a 20-year-old man died from stab wounds in the Swords area of Co Dublin, last night.

Officers investigating the fatal stabbing that occurred at St Cronans Avenue, Swords arrested the male who is also in his early 20s, this morning in connection with the incident. The victim was believed to be among a group socialising at a common area at St Cronan's Avenue

He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Swords Garda Station.

According to Gardaí, the incident occurred during an "altercation" involving a number of people on St Cronan's Avenue off Rathbeale Road in Swords.

Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.30pm.

The victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí say they are investigating the death and that inquiries are ongoing.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

A post mortem examination will be carried out later today.

His victim was left with a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and facial palsy.

7kg Cannabis Seized In Dublin
Gardai have seized 7kg of cannabis after they carried out a search on a car in Dublin on Monday. It has an estimated street value of €140,000. Members of the Crime Source Unit at Mountjoy Garda station discovered the drugs in the vehicle at Belvedere Avenue. The car has been seized, however no arrests were made.

Gardaí Appeal Over Swords Assault
Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal to anyone who witnessed an assault on Main Street, Swords yesterday (10 October) afternoon. The victim, a man in his 40s and originally from Nigeria, is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital after he was attacked with a baseball bat around 12.20pm.
