Bomb Defused In Ballyfermot

A bomb has been defused in the Ballfermot area of Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene and made safe what is described as a "viable improvised explosive device".

The discovery was made late on Thursday night at Cloverhill Road, Ballyfermot.

The team arrived on scene at 12.05am this morning, following a gardaí request to attend, and located the device underneath a privately owned van.

It contained explosive content and was dismantled and made safe on scene. The bomb disposal officer gave the all clear at 1.05am.

The remains of the device were removed from the scene for detailed examination and will be handed over to the gardaí for their inquiries.

Viable IED Found Under Car In South Dublin
A viable explosive device has been found under a car in south Dublin. According to the Irish Independent, a viable IED (improvised explosive device) was found under a car in the Glenshane area of Jobstown in Tallaght, south Dublin. The Army Bomb Disposal Team were called at around 21:25 and a number of residents evacuated from their homes.
