Gardaí Appeal Following Fatal Road Accident

Gardaí in Co Louth are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic accident at Clonmore, Togher.

The incident happened just before 11.30pm on Saturday, 12 March.

A woman, aged in her early 70's, suffered serious injuries when the car she was travelling in as a passenger collided with another car. She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where she was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her early 60's, and the two occupants of the second car, a woman, aged 29, and a man, aged 28, were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Emergency Services also attended the scene which has been preserved to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision investigators. The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or with information, particularly those who may have been travelling the roads in the area of Clonmore, Togher County Louth between 23:00 and 23:.30 on Saturday to contact them at Drogheda Garda Station on, 041 9874200, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.

Specially Adapted Car Stolen In Lucan Recovered
A specially adapted car stolen in Lucan, Dublin, on Monday 25 April, has been recovered. Gardaí issued an appeal for information on Tuesday after the black Audi A6 was stolen from the owners driveway. It is understood no damage was caused the car when garda recovered it. Garda thanked the public for their help.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Road Collision
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road accident in Dublin on Friday night. A woman, 40, died when she was hit by a car on the Davitt Road, which fled from the scene. The car, believed to be a Ford Focus, has not been found. Gardai believe the car would have been damaged at the front and the windscreen.
