DCC To Reverse Cuts To Homeless Services

A total of €9m in cuts made to homeless services and housing are to be reversed at a budget meeting being held tonight by Dublin City Council.

It is understood that the homeless and housing budgets will be reinstated with cuts instead being made to funding for roads and in regards to payments of the Poolbeg incinerator, according to a report by the Irish Times.

Dublin Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn is quoted as saying that he would "rather have a pothole than people sleeping on the side of the road."

Adding that "you do not cut money from vulnerable people who need it."

Full details of the changes to the budget will be revealed following the council meeting.
