QE2 to be sold to Dubai World

The QE2 liner is to be sold to the Dubai World company in a deal worth more than £50 million.

The 70,000-tonne Cunard vessel, which was launched by the Queen in 1967, will be turned into a luxury floating hotel, which will be based at a pier at the Palm Jumeirah development.

Istithmar, the investment arm of Dubai World, purchased the QE2. The company also owns shipping company P&O.
