Nine arrested in counterfeit cigarettes raid

Police in County Londonderry have arrested nine people in connection with the sale and distribution of counterfeit cigarettes.

Around 16 properties throughout Coleraine and Limavady were searched during a planned police operation in the early hours of yesterday morning.

During the operation a large quantity of cigarettes, a firearm and around £21,000 in cash was seized.

The six men and three women who were arrested are currently being held at Coleraine police station for questioning by officers from the PSNI organised crime unit.

Suspected Firearm Recovered During PSNI Operation In Ardmore
The PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) have recovered a suspected firearm in Ardmore in L'Derry. During a search in the Rushall Road area, the suspected firearm was located in the vicinity of a graveyard. Enquiries continue, and the suspected firearm will now be the subject of forensic testing.

Men Sentenced For Ballymena Drug And Money Laundering Operation
Three men were sentenced for offences linked to a drugs and money laundering operation in the Ballymena area yesterday, 31 January. At Antrim Crown Court, Troy Carley (27), Neil Lowry (30) and Marc Mitchell (32) were sentenced for a number of offences.
