Armed men rob Belfast department store

Police are appealing for information after armed men robbed a department store in Belfast at the weekend.

The men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, held up staff at the Bureau de Change on the top floor of the Marks and Spencer’s store at Donegal Place, at around 1.30pm on Sunday. They then left with a sum of cash.

Two members of staff were treated for shock however no-one was injured.

Police are investigating a possible link between the robbery and the recovery of a silver Peugeot car at Grace Street in the city a short time later.

The two men involved were wearing baseball caps, sports type jackets, tracksuit bottoms and trainers and also had scarves over their faces.

Detectives are urging anyone who was in the store between 1.30pm and 2pm and who have not yet spoken to police to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
