Mother admits concealing babies' remains

Ann Mahoney, 63, from Merthyr Tydfil has admitted three counts of concealing the birth of a child.

Mother-of-two Mahoney, a former nurse and a school governor was charged after the discovery of the remains of an infant in a suitcase at a former home in May this year. Two other bodies were subsequently discovered at her current residence in Merthyr Tydfil.

The court on Friday heard that all three of the infants were her own and that all three had been stillborn.

Mahoney admitted charges of concealing the birth of three infants in a period between January 1959 and March 2005 and January 1959 and May 2005.

The prosecution accepted that the infants were stillborn.

Mahoney was released on bail under the conditions set at her preliminary hearing.

A 21-year-old woman has admitted concealing the birth and burial of her two babies. Kerry Ardis, from Poole Park Road, Barne Barton, admitted two counts of endeavouring to conceal the birth of a child and two counts of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a child.

Murder Inquiry As Leeds Blaze Infant Dies
The police have launched a full-scale murder inquiry after a 15-month-old girl was killed in a house fire. The victim, her 19-year-old mother and a 27-year-old man were rescued from a blazing house in Seacroft, Leeds, in the early hours of Thursday morning and all three were taken to St James's Hospital. The little girl died a short time later.

Woman Admits Killing Three Men In Cambridgeshire
A woman has admitted murdering three men in Cambridgeshire. The bodies of Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, Kevin Lee, 48, and John Chapman, 56, were found in ditches. Joanna Dennehey, 31, from Peterborough pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey earlier today. The bodies were discovered in March and April.

Woman in ‘babies in attic’ find bailed
A 64-year-old former nurse was granted bail in court today over charges in connection with concealing the birth of a baby, after a body was discovered in the attic of a home in Wales. Ann Mahoney, from the Gurnos estate in Merthyr Tydfil, was arrested earlier this week, in connection with the discovery.

Search extended in baby bodies’ case
Police have confirmed that they have been granted more time to question the woman at the centre of an investigation into the discovery of the remains of three dead babies. Anne Mahoney (64), from Forsythia Close on the Gurnos estate in Merthyr Tydfil was arrested after police found the body of a baby in her former home.
