Youth arrested in connection with rape

A youth has been arrested by police in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in west Belfast last week.

The teenager, on holiday from England, was raped twice in the Blacks Road area of the city ten days ago.

A 16-year-old also appeared in court on Saturday charged with aiding and abetting rape in connection with the attack.

Last Wednesday, hundreds of people held a vigil outside the petrol station where the girl was attacked.

Those behind the show of support said they needed to express “revulsion” at what happened and to lend their support to the victim and her family.
