Three arrested following fatal stabbing

Three people have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenager in north Belfast on Wednesday.

Thomas Devlin, 15, was walking along the Somerton Road after buying sweets from a nearby petrol station when the incident occurred.

A friend of the victim who was with him at the time was also injured in the attack, however his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Two men and a male juvenile have been arrested in connection with the teenager's death.

SDLP assembly member for north Belfast Alban Maginness described the murder as "deeply shocking".

"I think of the devastation that will come to his mother and father and the rest of the family. Everybody in this district will be shocked by it,” he said.

A post mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at North Queen Street police station on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
