TV licensing officer attacked in Co Antrim

A television licensing officer has been left badly shaken after being attacked by two people in Co Antrim today.

The female officer was returning to her car after making calls to houses in the Seacourt Estate in Larne when she was attacked by two people wielding an iron bar and hatchet.

She escaped injury in the attack which happened at around 1.30pm.

Elsewhere, 24-year-old Londonderry man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder two police constables by driving at them.

John Patrick Johnston, from Carnhill, denied the charges which are believed to relate to an incident that occurred on Sunday.

He was remanded in custody until 2 October.

Police Attacked By Young People In West Belfast
The PSNI have condemned the assault of four police officers when they were attacked by young people in West Belfast. At around 6:50pm on Saturday, 06 April, police received a report in relation to community concerns that a large group of young people had congregated in Falls Park and that alcohol was being consumed by children.
