SF to support McBride election bid
Leading Sinn Féin member Gerry Kelly has confirmed he is to travel to London to assist the campaign of Kelly McBride in her bid to win a seat in the House of Commons.
Ms McBride said she was standing in the Brent East by-election to raise awareness of her family's campaign to have Scots Guards Mark Wright and James Fisher dismissed from the army following the death of her brother Peter in 1992.
Mr Kelly said: “The McBride family have fought a long, determined and dignified campaign to get justice for Peter McBride.
“Sinn Féin support their campaign for justice and support the McBride family’s campaign for justice. We will offer whatever help we can in support of Kelly McBride’s election campaign."
Scots Guards, Wright and Fisher were convicted of murdering 18-year-old Peter McBride while on patrol near the teenager's home in the New Lodge area of north Belfast.
The pair were sentenced to life for murder in 1995, but released three years later where they were allowed to rejoin their regiment.
The Brent East by-election comes after the death of Labour MP Paul Daisley who died from cancer earlier in the year.

Swann To Prioritise Settling Health Worker Pay Disputes
Newly appointed Health Minister, Robin Swann, has said that he will prioritise securing pay settlements for staff and resolve current industrial action. Mr Swann said: "That is my immediate priority and I want to see pay negotiations being initiated without delay, consequently I have written to the trade unions inviting them to early discussions.
