Mother and daughter 'shaken' following carjacking

A pregnant mother and her 11-year-old daughter have been left badly shaken after their car was hijacked at a petrol station on the outskirts of Belfast last night.

The woman's daughter was ordered out of her mother's car by two youths who forced their way into the vehicle at a filling station on the Antrim Road, Glengormley. The girl's mother was inside the filling station shop at the time of the incident.

The men then made off followed by a BMW car in which the two youth's had arrived.

The mother and daughter were uninjured during the incident which occurred at around 9pm.

The BMW was later spotted by a passing police officers who subsequently chased, then apprehended the occupants arresting five men.

An abandoned Volkswagon Golf was later discovered in north Belfast but it is not yet known if this was the woman's car.

Detectives Investigate Burglary In North Belfast
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a burglary at residential premises in the Wilton Street area of north Belfast. Between 7.30am and around 6.25 pm yesterday, 29 January, it was reported that entry was gained to a property in the area.
