Two Killed In M6 Collision

Two people have died after they were hit by a lorry on the M6 motorway in Cheshire. The pair were killed in the collision, which happened around 11:15am between Junction 17 and 18 at Sandbach. The northbound and southbound carriageway remains closed at Junction 17 and drivers are urged to seek alternative routes. Cheshire Police have a launched an investigation and are trying to discover why the pair were on the motorway.

Schoolgirl Attacked In East Lothian

A teenage girl in East Lothian is recovering after being punched in the face several times in an unprovoked attack. The 14-year-old was walking alone in School Lane, Cockenzie, around 10pm on Monday when the attack happened. A man grabbed her from behind and struck her several times to the face. She managed to break free and ran to Edinburgh Road, where she summoned help. The girl received minor injuries, but police said that she was left "immensely distressed" by the attack. The suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, with a broad build and a wide boxer-like nose. He was wearing dark trousers, a dark green hooded top with the hood up and a dark coloured scarf pulled over his mouth. He spoke with a Scottish accent. ITV Studios To Launch ITV Wild

ITV Studios have announced the launch of ITV Wild, a brand new online web service designed to provide unique access to thousands of hours of wildlife and natural history content for education and entertainment purposes. ITV Studios owns one of the largest wildlife and natural history programming libraries in the world. Launching in autumn 2010, ITV Wild will offer families and schools easy access to clips from its vast archive. ITV Wild will benefit from a cross promotional plan with ITV.com and related ITV network programming. These include Ray Mears' Field Guide to Britain, Lion Country series two and sister series Wild Cat Country all produced by ITV Studios. A subscription service will be available to schools, which will be launched at BETT, the education technology event in January 2011, providing a cross curriculum primary school resource.

SMG settles differences with ITV over digital rights
Following the recent sale of the Scottish Media Group's (SMG) 25% GMTV stake to ITV plc, the two companies have reached an agreement on the use of the ITV brand name and the use by ITV plc of SMG's digital spectrum in Scotland.

ITV rejects merger approach by NTL
The Board of ITV has rejected a merger proposal from NTL as one with "little strategic logic." In a statement, the Board said it believed that "whereas there is obvious appeal to NTL in gaining control of ITV's substantial and successful business, from ITV's perspective there is little, if any, strategic logic for ITV to combine with NTL.

ITV News will unveil a new look across all of its national programmes from Monday, which will be supported by a major on and off-air marketing campaign promoting news throughout the schedule.

UKIP Leader To Be Included In Televised Debate
Nigel Farage is understood to have been invited to take part in a televised debate ahead of the next general election. Three televised debates are planned. One will feature the Prime Minister and Labour leader Ed Miliband; another will see Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg joining the debate; and a fourth will also feature Mr Farage.

ITV chief Allen to leave broadcaster
ITV plc Chief Executive Charles Allen has announced that he is to leave the broadcasting giant. Finance Director John Cresswell will be appointed interim CEO from 1st October and that Allen will "work to facilitate an orderly transition". The search for a permanent successor is starting immediately and headhunters are being appointed.
